Finally, a cool day for running! As temperatures hovered at a downright seasonable level, times dropped at the 2017 Lancaster Lebanon League Cross Country Championships at Ephrata.
Defending Girls Champion Jamie Zamrin shaved over half a minute off her winning time from 2016 to cross the finish line in 18:29.7 and defend her title. Katie Locker of Elizabethtown was second and Samantha Side of Manheim Township was 3rd to lead the Blue Streaks to the team championship. That makes it THREE league championships so far for Township in 2017-2018.
The boys race ended in a shootout as Hempfield’s Christian Groff maintained his 2017 LL unbeaten streak. He was just 0.2 seconds ahead of Andrew Foster of Ephrata. Evan Kreider of Cocalico rounded out the top 3. Hempfield’s boys team also remained undefeated in LL competition this year as they rolled to the team championship.
