Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer and Field Hockey wrapped up their league seasons tonight. The finals did not disappoint as defending champions repeated, national powers returned to the top of the local league.
Boys Soccer got things under way. Four time Section 2 Champion Elizabethtown claimed league gold again in 2017, matching their 2016 accomplishment. The Bears beat Section 3 Champion Lancaster Mennonite 2-0.
In Field Hockey, Penn Manor got over the Donegal hump in the semifinals. A stingy Manheim Township defense held the Comets to just a pair of goals in the finals, but the Penn Manor defense was stingy-er, shutting out the Blue Streaks. 2-0 was the final for the the Comets’ 8th LL Championship and first since 2014.

Apologies if you’ve heard this one before, but 80 minutes was not enough to decide a Girls Soccer League Champion. In fact, 110 minutes almost wasn’t enough, but with a scant 14 seconds left in the second overtime, Manheim Township found the back of the net to beat Conestoga Valley 1-0. That makes it a clean sweep in soccer for defending champions in 2017.
