Put a roof over the court and it never gets rained out! The preliminary round matches of the Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster LL League Girls Tennis Team tournament were contested today at Hershey Racquet Club.
In the opener, Section 3 runner up Lancaster Catholic knocked off Section 2 Champion Elizabethtown 3-2. Match winners were:
- 1 Singles: Serafima Billis, Lancaster Catholic, 6-3, 6-4
- 2 Singles: Abigail Millay-Stipe, Lancaster Catholic, 6-3, 6-1
- 3 Singles: Paityn Gerz, Lancaster Catholic, 6-1, 6-1
- 1 Doubles: Katie Lowell & Adrienne Crick, Elizabethtown, 6-1, 6-1
- 2 Doubles: Carly Hoffman & JJ McBride, Elizabethtown, 6-0, 6-1
In match number 2 Hempfield defeated Manheim Central 3-2. Winning matches were
- 1 Singles: Alex Gregory, Hempfield, 6-2, 6-0
- 2 Singles: Rose Durrett, Hempfield, 6-1, 6-2
- 3 Singles: Rose Wendel, Hempfield, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2
- 1 Doubles: Ella Stauffer & Julia Rohrer, Manheim Central 6-3, 7-6 (8-6)
- 2 Doubles: Natalie Earhart & Kendal Newswanger, Manheim Central, 6-2, 7-5
Lancaster Catholic moves on to face Manheim Township in Tuesday’s semifinals at 2 p.m. Hempfield turns it around quick to face Lancaster Country Day at 12:30 p.m. Both matches will be at Hershey Racquet Club.
