2023 Girls Tennis Flight Tournaments Conclusion

The LL League Girls Tennis Flight tournament presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster has concluded.

Sienna Castelli of Lancaster Country Day School was the lone returning champion, and she successfully defended her title, besting teammate Sophia Babar in the finals in 3 sets.

Castelli and Babar also paired up to win AA Flight 1 Doubles.

On the AAA side, top seed Jade Flores of Conestoga Valley won her first AAA singles title.

In Flight 1 AAA doubles, Haley Miller and Jade Miller brought home gold for Manheim Township.

2023 Girls Tennis Flight Tournament Day 2 Results

The 2023 LL League Girls Tennis Flight Tournament presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster completed its second day today at Conestoga Valley.

The finals are set for Tuesday, October 10th back at Conestoga Valley. Matches start at 3 p.m. Singles finals will be contested first, along with AAA and AA Flight 1 playback matches. Doubles finals will follow.

Girls Tennis 2023 Flight Tournament Update

Day 1 of the LL League Girls Tennis flight tournaments presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster is complete, having been played under great weather for early October.

The top seeds in all brackets have advanced to Saturday, including defending AA Singles Champion Sienna Castelli of Lancaster Country Day. Play is scheduled to resume on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Conestoga Valley. With rain in the forecast, stay tuned to @lancelebleague on X for potential changes.

2023 Girls Tennis Team Finals

In what will surely go down as a classic, Hempfield bested Section 1 rival (and 2023 champion) Manheim Township 3-2 to win the Girls Tennis team tournament presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster.

Third singles was the last match to wrap up after the teams split in doubles and first and second singles. Lydia Sullivan got the job done before daylight was gone to give Hempfield the win.

The finals for the 2023 LL League Girls Tennis team tournament presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster are set, and it will be an all Section 1 affair.

Manheim Township punched their ticket via a 5-0 win over Elizabethtown. Match results were:

AA Flight 1 Singles has the only returning champion looking to defend her title as Lancaster Country Day School’s Sienna Castelli has earned the number 1 seed in that bracket.

2023 Girls Tennis Team Tournament Prelim Results

The first round of the LL League Girls Tennis Team Tournament presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster is in the books, and the home teams held serve to move on to the Semifinals.

Hosting Manheim Central, Hempfield advanced on a 5-0 sweep. Winners were

  • Selena Felices & Lindsay Over: 6-2, 6-0

The Black Knights head to Lancaster Country Day on Monday for the Semifinals.

Hosting Annville-Cleona, Elizabethtown also swept 5-0. Winners were

The Bears travel to Manheim Township on Monday. Both Semifinal matches will start at 4 p.m.

2023 Girls Tennis Team Tournament

The 2023 LL League Girls Tennis Team tournament presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster is set, AND will kick off a day earlier than scheduled.

Due to forecast rainy weather on Friday, the quarterfinals will be held on Thursday, September 28th. Section 1 Champion Manheim Township is the top AAA team and will have a quarterfinal bye in to the semifinals. Section 3 Champion Lancaster Country Day receives the same treatment by virtue of being the top AA team.

Section 1 runner up Hempfield will host Section 2 runner up Manheim Central. Section 2 Champion Elizabethtown will host Section 3 runner up Annville-Cleona. Both matches will be Thursday, September 28th and will get underway at 4 p.m.

The Semifinals remain scheduled for Monday, October 2nd (Manheim Township and Lancaster Country Day host) with the finals slated for Tuesday, October 3rd at Donegal.

2023 Golf Championships

The first LL League championship of the 2023-2024 academic year has concluded, and there is a new old name atop the team standings at the LL League Golf Championships presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster.

Manheim Township, having already won the 2023 Section 1 Championship, shot a combined 19 over to win the League Championship for the first time since 2020 and their 21st overall.

Individually Jesse Shue of Penn Manor won the boys crown, shooting 4 under (the only person to go under par in the tournament). Elle Overly of Warwick was girls champion at 3 over.

Donegal and Lancaster Catholic Athletic Directors Honored

At the most recent meeting of the LL League Athletic Director’s Association, Donegal Athletic Director Frank Hawkins was named the Lancaster-Lebanon League Athletic Director of the year for 2023.  Presenting Mr. Hawkins his award is Zac Kraft, Athletic Director at Lancaster Country Day and LL League Athletic Director’s Association President.

At that same meeting the LL League celebrated the retirement of Rich Hinnenkamp, Athletic Director of Lancaster Catholic High School and past President of the LL League Athletic Director’s Association.  Mr. Hinnenkamp was honored for his selfless efforts in promoting athletics at Lancaster Catholic and for his 7 years as LL League Athletic Director Association President.  Presenting Mr. Hinnenkamp with his award are (left to right): Zac Kraft, Athletic Director at Lancaster Country Day and LL League Athletic Director Association President, Rich Hinnenkamp, and Todd Reitnouer, LL League Executive Director.
