2022 Elizabethtown Optimist Club JH Wrestling Tournament Results

After a year off the de facto Junior High Wrestling Championships for the league were back as the Elizabethtown Optimist Club hosted their annual wrestling tournament.  For the first time the club was pleased to welcome the Junior High team from Octorara!

Conestoga Valley came away with the team championship, led by Outstanding Wrestler (as voted by the coaches) Caden Yanarella.

Saturday Wrestling to Start On Time

The Semifinal session of the LL League Wrestling Championships presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster will start at 11 a.m. as scheduled at Manheim Township.  Final session will start at 3 p.m.

2022 League Wrestling Championships This Weekend

Alphabetically last but chronologically first; wrestling gets the 2022 LL League Championship season underway this weekend at Manheim Township.  Wrestling begins Friday at 4 p.m. and resumes Saturday at 11 a.m. with the semifinals of the LL League Wrestling Championships presented by OAL.

Three League Champions

LL League Championships presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster were contested in Boys Soccer, Field Hockey and Girls Soccer this evening.

In Boys Soccer 80 minutes was not enough for Warwick and Hempfield.  Warwick got the game winner in the first overtime to win 2-1.

In Field Hockey, Penn Manor weathered a frantic second half assault by Manheim Township to hang on for a 2-1 win.

In Girls Soccer it was deja vu all over again as Penn Manor won 2-1.

Semifinal Tuesday Results 2021

Six semifinal games contested across Field Hockey and Soccer in the 2021 Fall LL League playoffs presented by Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster.

In field hockey, Section 1 emerged on top in both contests.  Manheim Township was a 1-0 winner over Donegal, and Penn Manor won 2-0 over Ephrata.  The all Section 1 final will be Thursday at Conestoga Valley at 7 p.m.

Girls soccer is going to have a similar feel to field hockey.  Manheim Township was a 2-0 winner over Lampeter-Strasburg.  In the second game, Penn Manor blanked Ephrata 3-0.  That all Section 1 final will be Thursday at Warwick at 7:30 p.m.

Boys soccer took a little longer with Manheim Central taking Hempfield through a pair of OTs locked at 1 before Hempfield advanced 4-3 on pks.  Warwick made is a clean sweep for Section 1 on the night with a 1-0 double OT win over Ephrata.

2021 Cross Country Championships

The crowd was back for the 2021 Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster LL League Cross Country Championships at Ephrata.

In the Girls Race, Isabella Shertzer of McCaskey fought off a hard charging Elena Barrall at the finish.  Barrall and her Manheim Township teammates had the final word on the team side as the Blue Streaks won the team trophy ahead of the runner-up Red Tornado.

The boys race had a larger margin individually with Aidan Hodge of Hempfield besting Colin Whitaker of Lampeter-Strasburg by 7 seconds.  In team standings the Black Knights held a 9 point margin over Manheim Township.

Girls Volleyball Playoffs 2021

The LL League championships for outdoor sports wrap up this week, but the LL Championship season isn’t done yet!  The Orthopedic Associates of Lancaster Girls Volleyball championships get underway on Saturday.

This year Section 1 and 3 Champions get to host.  Elizabethtown as Section 2 champion gets a bye in to the semifinal round.  And congratulations to Octorara, this is the Braves first section championship since joining the LL.
